With regards to the EU’s opening of the market of international rail passenger transport accompanying the Communication on the fourth railway package; this motion supported the Government’s aim of ensuring any resulting measures are appropriate, encourage competition and help to deliver a level playing field across the EU; and further supports the Government’s view that any such measures should be evidence-based, proportionate and reduce or at least minimise the regulatory, administrative and cost burden for industry.
